Extraordinary Options

Extraordinary Options, or Extra Ops, is for girls, aged 12-17+, who are more interested in the ‘doing’ of Guiding and less interested in earning the badges and recognition available in Pathfinders or Rangers. This is definitely for girls who want to pursue their interests in a more focused way. So far, GGC offers two different Extra Ops, Trex and GirlSports:

Trex is exciting and adventurous. It challenges girls to spend their Guiding time enjoying Canada's great outdoors. A trek is a journey that can be challenging and sometimes even arduous. A Trex Girl Guide is someone who embraces challenging, exciting and bold outdoor adventures. She wants to face physical challenges energetically and fearlessly, as she tests her limits and pushes herself to overcome obstacles and achieve new goals.

GirlSports is another opportunity for girls to have fun in bold, energetic activities with their friends. Focusing on sports, girls play hard, building their skills in sports they know, and also challenging themselves with sports they've never played before.

If this sounds like something you would like to do, ask your Guider or your Guiding friends if there is a Trex or GirlSport unit near you. If there isn't, ask your Guider how you could start one up!
