Review: A Very Potter Musical
I told you before that I have recently become obsessed with Starkid, a musical theatre group that has captured the hearts of many. So why not write a review of their most famous musical, A Very Potter Musical? I promise you, this won’t be professional. It will consist of my fangirling the whole way through. So, on that pleasant note, let us begin!
The musical, written, directed and starring students and recent graduates of the University of Michigan combines the best parts of the seven novels by JK Rowling to create nearly three hours of music filled magical mayhem. I know many of you are Gleeks, so here is a fun fact for you. Darren Criss, who plays Blaine Anderson, plays Harry in this musical. It’s where he started out in his acting and singing career. Here is a list of the full cast.
Darren Criss – Harry Potter
Joey Richter – Ron Weasley
Bonnie Gruesen – Hermione Granger
Jaime Lynn Beatty – Ginny Weasley
Lauren Lopez – Draco Malfoy (yes, a girl plays Draco.)
Joe Walker – Voldemort
Dylan Saunders – Dumbledore
Joe Moses – Severus Snape
Brian Rosenthal – Professor Quirrell
Devin Lytle – Cho Chang
Tyler Brunsman – Cedric Diggory (FIND!), Cornelius Fudge
Sango Tajima – Lavender Brown
Richard Campbell – Neville Longbottom
Jim Povolo – Goyle, Rumbleroar
Julia Albain – Crabbe
Lily Marks – Pansy Parkinson, Molly Weasley
Britney Coleman – Bellatrix Lestrange
This is a must-see musical. Even if you don’t like musicals, or Harry Potter, watch it.
It will get a laugh out of you. Take it from the girl who has all of the songs from the original and the sequel memorized. |(^.^)
That is all for this week, mainly because I can’t think of anything else. Stay totally awesome; don’t forget the Redvines; practice your spells and I will talk to next time! Bye!!
